Bee Hotels
So here is a great chance to create something really useful and attractive which you can create, to provide a new home for our beneficial insects that can also help pollinate your garden – Herbs, Vegetables, and flowers, and to help control unwanted pests in your surroundings too. Insect homes/habitats/hotels are easy to make from all kinds of recycled materials which we can supply (scraps of wood) or seed pods, sticks, pine cones, bamboo and moss). Your “special bug hotel” will help provide shelter all year round and give you an excellent way to observe the insects up close. Through our special interactive environmental workshops, children & adults will learned about the environment and its protection .
Now that spring is in the air and the bees are starting to emerge we now have lots of bee hotels to beeee made here. We have also made a new sign. It is a hand carved map with gold leaf inserted to highlight the honey route, with decorative decoupage created by Lynn. This represents the Rural Honey Villages Network of the Larnaca District and each bee motif is home to each village from Right to Left Kato Lefkara – Kato Drys – Vavla – Lageia – Ora – Melini – Odou – Agioi Vavatsinias – Vavatsinia.
